Normative Systems Culture Change Process

Culture change requires a systematic approach that includes a high degree of shared ownership and involvement. The Normative System Culture Change Process has successfully addressed diverse issues including productivity, absenteeism, crime, violence, environmental care and health promotion. It has been applied in a wide range of business, educational, government and community settings. Resources for planning and implementing the Normative Systems Culture Change Process are described below.

The Culture Change Leadership Seminar helps executives, managers, supervisors and peer leaders to make informed decisions about culture change. Successful culture change can best be achieved when organizational leaders understand the culture and then work together to plan for systematic change. This seminar offers a field-tested framework for analyzing and changing organizational culture. It is suitable for addressing a wide range of goals including productivity, turnover, morale, innovation, communication, workplace diversity, customer service, quality, health promotion, ethics and changes in strategic direction.

The one-day Culture Change Leadership Seminar utilizes case studies and small group exercises to explore concepts useful for planning a culture change initiative. The Culture Change Planner, available for free on this web site, provides a framework for the seminar. Participants learn methods for examining cultural values, norms, peer support, organizational support and climate. Participants also learn how to determine the best strategies for all four phases of project development: (1) Analysis, Objective Setting and Leadership Development; (2) Systems Introduction; (3) Systems Integration; (4) Evaluation, Renewal and Extension. The seminar can be tailored to address culture change or human resource goals identified by the host organization. Participants develop a plan for cultural analysis as well as other phases of project introduction, integration and evaluation. Case studies and small group exercises reinforce key concepts and principles.

The seminar is lead by Judd Allen, Ph.D. The cost is $2,000 plus travel expenses from Vermont. The recommended seminar size is between 8 and 50 participants. Resource materials are $25 per participant. A 50% deposit is needed to reserve a seminar date. Call (802) 862-8855 or write JuddA@healthyculture.com to schedule the seminar.
