Work Climate Seminar

Creating a Healthy and Productive Work Environment

Presented by: Judd Robert Allen, Ph.D.

Purpose Work climate helps determine morale, job stress, recruitment, turnover, organizational learning, teamwork, employee health and productivity. In addition, workplace diversity and work/life balance goals are more easily reached with a healthy work climate. The Work Climate Seminar teaches skills needed to understand and change the social atmosphere of a work group. Most seminars provide feedback from the Work Climate Survey and offer participants an opportunity to develop an action plan for addressing issues identified with the survey.

Features Three climate factors--a sense of community, a shared vision and a positive outlook--determine the culture’s capacity to support individual, group and organizational growth. The full-day seminar addresses each of the three work climate factors by offering definitions of key concepts, examining the current work environment and reviewing strategies for bringing about lasting and positive change. Individual and group exercises maximize participation and learning. Seminar participants develop lists of follow-up activities that fit the needs of the current cultural environment.

A Culture Change Sourcebook chapter reprint explains the research that formed the basis for the Work Climate Seminar.
